Julio Suárez serves as Managing Director at DRiWaterstone Human Capital, a boutique strategic consulting and executive search firm specializing in purpose and mission-driven organizations in the U.S., where he has successfully led searches for CEOs, Executive Directors, C-Suite leaders, General Counsels, and Development Directors for foundations, nonprofits, and public service agencies. He has also worked with foundation clients on consulting projects to support strategic planning, stakeholder research and engagement, and grantmaking programs.
With extensive experience in foundation management, corporate giving, cause marketing partnerships, and nonprofit board governance, Julio brings valuable expertise to his role and to his clients. Previously, he led the Anheuser-Busch Foundation, where he reported to a board of directors, managed a team of program officers and oversaw an annual budget exceeding $15M for grantmaking, corporate giving, and employee volunteering initiatives. Prior to that, as Director of Community Affairs and Foundation at Darden Restaurants, he administered an $8M annual grantmaking budget.
Julio holds both a BA and BS from the University of Kansas, an MBA from Baker University, a Certificate in Corporate Social Responsibility from Harvard, and a Community Foundation Express Training certification. Active in his community, he serves on the boards of the St. Louis Community Foundation, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, and The Muny.
