BJ Davis (she/her/hers) is a senior consultant in executive search and strategic services at DRiWaterstone. She specializes in the social sector—including LGBTQ rights, human services, animal welfare organizations, and more. BJ has over 25 years of experience in non-profit leadership, fundraising, team building, leadership development, and people strategy. Her distinct approach to her search and strategic consulting values the diversity and richness of human stories, motivations, and relationships, fostering a culture of inclusion, positivity, and connectedness for her clients.
BJ’s extensive experience in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, and board and individual coaching is instrumental in cultivating trust with candidates and delivering a wide range of services to effectively meet her client’s diverse needs. Previously, BJ served as the Chief Relationship Officer at DigDeep Right to Water, where she designed and implemented the organization’s strategic fundraising program. She achieved remarkable results in less than two years, doubling annual revenue and expanding the development team from one to nine. BJ also held senior leadership roles at Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, Hetrick-Martin Institute, Susan G. Komen, and Calverton Day School, where she leveraged resources, talent, and processes to drive organizational alignment across boards, leadership, and frontline staff. She has also helped numerous Boards of Directors to implement results-driven philanthropic cultures and effective governance structures and trained over 200 frontline fundraisers. BJ’s contributions to the sector continue to propel her clients to new heights of efficacy and impact.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Radford University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Vermont. She is trained in strengths-based leadership and certified in Exponential Fundraising. When not leading searches, coaching clients, or developing fundraising strategies, BJ enjoys relaxing with her partner of 17 years and their menagerie of rescue animals in Newport Beach, CA.
