Karen Smith

Karen Smith is the Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Bruce Power. Her role is to oversee Bruce Power’s Human Resources function including Labour Relations, Recruitment, Talent Management, Employee Engagement, Ethics, Wellness and Total Rewards.

Karen has been with Bruce Power 14 years and held various roles within Human Resources as well as in the areas of Corporate Affairs, Strategic Support and Corporate Services. Prior to joining Bruce Power Karen worked for BlackBerry. She also is a board member with the Electricity of Human Resources Canada (EHRC) as well as a member of the Appeals Committee with the Girl Guides of Canada Board of Directors.

Karen holds an Executive MBA from Schulich- Kellogg program, has a degree in Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as an Executive Certificate in Human Resources Leadership from Cornell University.

Shane Wright is a seasoned executive with over a decade of leadership experience within the security services industry. As Paladin Security’s Executive Vice President of Pacific, Shane leads a dynamic team of over 7,000 security professionals, driving operational excellence in complex, full-service security programs that integrated technology with traditional security guard services across the region.

With a strong academic background in Criminology, Shane is a dedicated professional committed to advancing security standards. He is an active member of industry associations like the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). Since 2017, Shane has led the development of Paladin’s Indigenous Relations Practices as part of Paladin’s commitment to Section 92 of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. In 2022, Shane was awarded Canadian Security Magazine’s Top 10 under 40.
